Photographic quality printers and film recorders. Many high resolution images can only be best appreciated as a photograph. It is difficult to see all the resolution on a monitor, even at 1600x1200 display images of 3000x4000 pixels so large only a small fraction (16%) of the image is visible at any one time at its native resolution. To display the whole image on a monitor will discard much of the resolution available in today's high performance scientific imaging cameras. An 8x10 print at 400 dpi holds much more information than a monitor.
